High-Level Meeting Focuses on Women’s Safety; NCW Chief Seeks Detailed Report from Himachal Government
At a high-level meeting held on Tuesday at the State Secretariat, National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Kishor Rahatkar asked the Himachal Pradesh government for detailed information on crimes against women. She specifically inquired how many cases have been registered under rape and the POCSO Act and how many have led to action or conviction.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, DGP Ashok Tiwari, and other senior officials attended the meeting. State Women’s Commission Chairperson Vidya Negi also discussed various welfare schemes for women and shared that the commission has been holding camps across districts to hear women’s grievances.
The meeting reviewed reports from the health department on vaccination, nutrition programs, and maternal health, with Rahatkar emphasizing special attention to malnutrition and anemia cases. She suggested empowering Anganwadi and ASHA workers to better spread awareness about health and safety schemes in rural areas.
In conclusion, the Chief Secretary assured the NCW Chairperson that the state government is prioritizing women’s safety and welfare programs at every level.
