Himachal Winter Session: Tapovan Struggles with Disaster, Roads, and Water Issues; Over 300 Questions Raised So Far

Dharamshala: Himachal Assembly Winter Session from November 26 to Focus on Disaster, Roads, and Water Issues

The Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s winter session is set to begin on November 26 at Tapovan, Dharamshala. This year, the session is expected to be dominated by issues related to natural disasters, road repairs, and water supply. As of Wednesday, the State Assembly Secretariat has received over 300 questions from lawmakers, which will be sent to the respective departments for responses. The session will conclude on December 5.

The opposition BJP is expected to take an aggressive stance, while the ruling party will also be proactive. The Secretariat has intensified preparations for the session, and the number of questions is likely to increase in the coming days. Lawmakers can submit their questions to the Secretariat until December 19.

Key topics raised by legislators include natural disasters, road maintenance, water supply, health services, and employee demands. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is also expected to address the House on disaster relief efforts.

Politically and administratively, this session is significant. The Congress government plans to highlight achievements from its three-year tenure, while the BJP will attempt to challenge the government on all fronts. The opposition is likely to focus on issues such as flood damages, distribution of relief funds, delayed road repairs, and slow progress in water supply projects.

The session will also see discussions on transparency in the reconstruction of affected areas and the distribution of relief packages. Security and other logistical arrangements at the Tapovan Assembly complex have been strengthened in preparation for the session.
