“From Tomorrow, College Teachers’ Attendance via Mobile App; System Changed to Ensure Accountability”

Attendance in Himachal Government Colleges to be Recorded via Mobile App from November 15

In Himachal Pradesh, attendance for teachers and non-teaching staff in government colleges will now be recorded through a geo-fence based biometric system. The Directorate of Higher Education has issued instructions to all college principals to implement this system from November 15.

Under the new system, staff will mark their attendance exclusively through the ‘HP e-BAAS’ mobile app. The app’s geo-fencing technology ensures that attendance can only be recorded within college premises, making the process more transparent, accurate, and accountable.

Director of Higher Education, Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma, stated that training sessions for all government colleges have already been conducted by the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance. Staff registration on the Him Access portal is complete, and DDO accounts have been created for each college to manage mapping and data.

With this system, there will be no need for traditional registers or biometric machines. Staff will mark their attendance using the mobile app upon entering the college premises.

Officials added that there are plans to extend this system to universities and technical institutions in the future, ensuring a uniform digital attendance system across all educational institutions.
