Himachal Pradesh in Final Stage of Affiliation for 100 Government Schools with CBSE
Himachal Pradesh is in the final stage of affiliating 100 government schools with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to align the state’s education system with national standards. The recruitment process for teachers in these schools will begin soon. Selected teachers will be asked to provide three school preferences, ensuring a transparent and teacher-friendly posting process.
Teacher recruitment will involve a written examination and an interview, with a merit list prepared based on combined scores. Teachers will then be posted to one of the schools from their selected options. Only candidates who have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Eligibility Test (SET) will be eligible for CBSE schools. Additionally, specialized recruitment will be conducted for trained teachers in yoga, music, and sports.
Teachers in these schools will receive special incentives compared to other government schools, including additional allowances, training opportunities, and professional development programs. According to departmental sources, teachers will also be sent to national-level training institutes. Transfers of teachers in CBSE schools will not be allowed.
Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar stated that the initiative aims to prepare students for national-level competitive exams. The CBSE curriculum will provide students with better preparation for exams such as JEE, NEET, and CUET.
The government aims to develop these schools on the lines of Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas. Each school will feature modern labs, smart classrooms, sports facilities, and libraries. Yoga, music, sports, and arts will also be integrated into the curriculum. Currently, assessments of infrastructure, laboratories, and staff availability are being carried out, after which formal CBSE affiliation will be granted.
