Chamba: Tensions Rise in Surada After Clash Between Two Groups, Crowd Protests Outside Police Station
In Chamba’s Surada locality, tensions escalated following a clash between two groups of youths on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, residents gathered again outside the police station, demanding that the arrested youths be charged under Section 307 (attempt to murder). The crowd blocked the police station in protest.
According to reports, some youths allegedly rode unregistered bikes, carrying sticks and sharp weapons, hit a youth with a bike, and injured him with a sharp weapon. Additionally, they are accused of verbally abusing the local deity, Ishtdev.
Upon learning about the incident, locals rushed to the police station, demanding the arrest of the accused. Late at night, police teams assured that the accused would be apprehended and further investigation conducted, which temporarily calmed the situation. However, residents returned to the police station again on Thursday morning.
