Hamirpur: Drug Trafficker Attempts to Run Over Police Team, Station Officer Injured
In Hamirpur district, a police team attempting to apprehend a drug trafficker faced a dangerous attack when the suspect tried to run them over near Nalti Road in Dugnedi. Station Officer Kulwant Rana was injured in the incident.
The police acted swiftly and fired at the suspect’s vehicle, puncturing one of its tires. Authorities have identified both the suspect and the vehicle owner. It was revealed that the vehicle owner was already booked under the NDPS Act.
SP Bhagat Singh Thakur stated that the police received a tip-off at night about a vehicle carrying drugs. Acting on the secret information, a checkpoint was set up near Dugnedi at around 6:30 AM. At approximately 8:00 AM, the vehicle approached, and when police attempted to stop it, the suspect tried to run over the station officer and fled the scene. The vehicle was found to be carrying synthetic drug “chitta.”
Police are currently searching for the suspect and further action is underway.
