Himachal: Vajra Prahar 2026 Begins in Bakloh, Indian and US Soldiers Showcase Mountain Warfare Skills

Bakloh (Himachal Pradesh): Elevating defense ties between India and the United States, the joint military exercise Vajra Prahar 2026 commenced on Tuesday at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh. The 16th edition of the exercise, running until March 15, includes 45 para special forces soldiers from the Indian Army and 12 Green Berets from the US Army.

Held in a region renowned for mountain warfare, the exercise focuses on neutralizing terrorist hideouts in challenging terrain. Training will include modern drone technology, advanced unmanned aerial systems, and surgical strike operations. Both forces will enhance coordination in hostage rescue missions and covert operations.

This year’s exercise emphasizes joint operations in desert and semi-desert environments. Soldiers from both countries will undergo rigorous training under realistic combat scenarios and exchange strategies, techniques, and procedures for advanced special operations.

The previous Vajra Prahar was held in 2024 in Idaho, USA, while the 2023 edition took place in Umroi, Meghalaya. The exercise strengthens the India-US strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific region and sends a strong message regarding preparedness for future global security challenges.
