Himachal: Vikramaditya Meets Union Minister, 1,200 km of New Roads to Be Built in Next Phase of PMGSY

Himachal: Vikramaditya Meets Union Minister, Seeks Special Support for Dodra Quar and Rural Road Projects

New Delhi/Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Saturday to present a detailed progress report of approved and ongoing road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase‑4 in Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting focused on road projects in Dodra Quar, a remote and high-altitude area in Shimla district. It was highlighted that parts of the Dodra Quar road, approved under PMGSY Phase‑1, remain incomplete due to challenging geography, tough terrain, adverse weather, and a limited working season. This route is critical for local villagers, border areas, disaster management, emergency health services, and essential supplies.

Vikramaditya Singh requested special exemptions, additional financial support, and technical assistance for pending road packages and remaining Phase‑1 works to ensure all-weather road connectivity for this geographically challenging area.

It was also shared that under PMGSY‑4, approximately 1,500 km of rural road projects in Himachal Pradesh have been approved at an estimated cost of ₹2,300 crore. The state government has proposed an additional 1,200 km of roads under the second phase of PMGSY‑4, with Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) being prepared and approval expected soon.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that the pending packages, residual Phase‑1 works, and required financial approvals for Dodra Quar will be prioritized at the ministry and finance level, with positive results expected soon.

Vikramaditya Singh appealed to all public representatives, panchayat members, and landowners to provide maximum gift deeds to facilitate timely land availability for road construction, connecting remote and underserved areas. He emphasized that active cooperation is the key to bringing development to Himachal Pradesh’s rural regions.
