Himachal: Entry of Vehicles to Become Costly from April 2026 with FASTag, Fees Increased for Private and Goods Vehicles
From April 1, 2026, vehicle entry in Himachal Pradesh will become costlier under the FASTag system. Private vehicles from other states will now have to pay ₹130 instead of ₹70 as entry fees, while small goods vehicles will pay ₹170.
Following NHAI guidelines, the Excise Department has now fixed fees based on the number of axles in vehicles. Under this system, Himachal-registered vehicles carrying 20 quintals or 7,500 kg of goods will also be charged, whereas they were previously exempt. The notification for the financial year 2026-27 has also increased fees for Himachal-registered goods vehicles.
New Fee Structure:
- Private vehicles: ₹70 → ₹130
- 6-12 seater passenger vehicles: ₹130
- More than 12-seater vehicles: ₹200
- Large goods vehicles: ₹720 → ₹900
- Construction machinery vehicles: ₹570 → ₹800
- Commercial vehicles: ₹320 → ₹600
- 32-seater mini bus: ₹180 → ₹320
- Double-axle bus/truck: ₹570
- Tractor: ₹100
- Rickshaw: ₹30
Quarterly and annual passes will also be issued based on the new fees. The Excise Department has fixed rates for 55 toll barriers across the state.
Toll Auction and Revenue Target:
The government has set a revenue target of ₹185 crore from the auction of 55 toll barriers. The reserve price for FY 2026-27 has been increased by ₹20 crore compared to the previous year. Reserve prices have been set for barriers including Mehtpur-Gagret, Baddi, Parwanoo, Shimla, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, and Nurpur. Toll operators will also have to install CCTV cameras. Seven toll barriers have been added under the FASTag facility.
