Himachal Pradesh: Buransh Flowers Bloom in February as Changing Weather Colors Outer Siraj Valleys

Buransh Flowers Bloom Early in the Valleys of Outer Siraj

The picturesque valleys of Outer Siraj in Himachal Pradesh are currently blooming with Buransh flowers. Typically blossoming in March or during the Chaitra-Vaishakh months, this year the flowers have appeared nearly a month earlier due to unusual weather patterns. Reduced rainfall in January and February, along with a rise in temperature, has accelerated their blooming.

Buransh flowers are mostly found in high-altitude areas. The upper regions of Nithar, including Adshi, Shillabag, Buai, and Lot Panchayats, as well as the upper areas of Shilli and Kuthed Panchayats, are witnessing a significant bloom. Elders recall that these flowers were widely used in Ayurvedic medicines and were considered effective in stopping nosebleeds.

Buransh is also used to prepare sherbet, jam, and chutney. Dried flowers are used throughout the year for making chutneys. Due to low snowfall and rising temperatures this year, the valleys of Outer Siraj are now adorned with these vibrant, medicinally valuable flowers.
