Shimla: Woman Arrested in ₹25 Lakh Fraud Case Posing as Foreign Placement
In Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, police have arrested a woman from Kharar, Chandigarh in a ₹25 lakh fraud case involving promises of foreign placement. The case was registered at Baluganj Police Station, Shimla in 2025. The complainant alleged that her sister, Bhavna, was defrauded of nearly ₹25 lakh by the accused under the pretense of obtaining a Canadian visa.
During the investigation, the accused went underground, frequently changing mobile SIMs and using WhatsApp calls. Police conducted raids in Punjab and Haryana but could not apprehend her initially.
On February 22, a special team was formed, which raided a flat in Shivalik City, Kharar, Chandigarh and arrested the accused, Manju Kumari. She had defrauded the victim by misleading her and taking a substantial amount of money.
SSP Shimla Gaurav Singh stated that the police are investigating every aspect of the case.
