Shimla News: Admissions and Classes Begin in Government Schools Under New CBSE Curriculum, But No Books or Teachers

Shimla: Admissions and Classes Begin in New CBSE Schools, But Books and Teachers Yet to Arrive

In Shimla district, admissions and classes have started in government schools converted to the CBSE system for the winter session. However, CBSE textbooks have not yet been delivered, and teachers under the board have not been appointed. This has raised concerns among students and parents about possible disruptions in studies.

For now, the education department has begun teaching the Himachal Pradesh Board (HPBoSE) curriculum in these schools. Officials say that both CBSE and HPBoSE follow the NCERT curriculum, so the difference is minimal.

The state government has brought 22 government schools in Shimla under the CBSE board, most of which are winter-session schools. The new academic session has started in these schools, and teaching is underway. The department has assured that CBSE textbooks will be provided soon, and teachers will be appointed.

Co-Education Begins at Lalpani School After 163 Years

At the historic Lalpani School in Shimla, co-education has been introduced after 163 years. Boys and girls will now study together, with five girls enrolling this session. Previously, the school only admitted boys from grades 6 to 12.

According to the school administration, CBSE affiliation and co-education are expected to boost admissions. Currently, around 600 students are enrolled. Girls were welcomed with flower garlands, and admissions will continue through March.
