Shimla: Training for Panchayat Secretaries to Boost Computer Skills and Proposal Drafting, Will Speed Up Rural Work
Shimla: Many Panchayat secretaries in Himachal Pradesh have been found lacking in technical skills. Despite years of service, some secretaries are unable to draft proposals for public-related work. They struggle to operate computers and cannot maintain online records, causing delays in Panchayat operations.
The district administration has received several complaints regarding such secretaries. To address the issue, a special training program for Panchayat secretaries has been planned. Secretaries from all 412 Panchayats in Shimla will be called to the district headquarters to receive training in computer operation, online record maintenance, and proposal drafting.
According to the administration, newly recruited secretaries in recent years are proficient in computers and hold IT certificates. However, many previously recruited secretaries face difficulties in these tasks, and some are due to retire in the next one or two years. Hence, training for all secretaries has been deemed necessary.
Panchayat secretaries play a vital role in rural areas, handling tasks ranging from matters raised in Gram Sabha to drafting proposals for development work. The training is expected to improve their efficiency, ensuring faster completion of public-related tasks in rural areas.
The district administration has stated that the training schedule will be announced soon.
