145 CBSE-Affiliated Schools in Himachal Get Government Approval

Himachal Government Approves CBSE Affiliation for 15 More Schools

The Himachal Pradesh government has approved the affiliation of 15 additional government senior secondary schools with CBSE. With these schools from Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Mandi districts now included, the total number of CBSE-affiliated government schools in the state has risen to 145.

The schools include Hamirpur’s Badran, Butran, Rail, and Jhaladi; Kangra’s Barauh, Gangath, and Thakurdwara; Solan’s Chandi and Jogho; Bilaspur’s Panjgai; Sirmaur’s Amboya and Sarahan; Shimla’s Matiyana; and Mandi’s Chautra and Kotli. These schools will now follow the CBSE curriculum.

Officials stated that CBSE affiliation will benefit students by providing access to a national-level curriculum, standardized evaluation systems, and better preparation for competitive exams. The move also aims to provide students in rural areas with educational facilities comparable to urban schools.

Additionally, the government has issued guidelines to ensure continuity of the posts of Lecturer/PGT (Public Administration) in CBSE-affiliated government schools. Approved positions can be transferred to other schools with higher student enrollment where the subject is currently operational, with prior permission from the competent authority.

The government has directed the Directorate to study the feasibility of introducing Public Administration as an elective subject in CBSE-affiliated schools and to initiate the process with the Government of India and CBSE as per the prescribed procedure.
