Solan-Arki Fire Case: 20 Human Remains Recovered, 10 Cremated Under Administration Supervision
In the massive cylinder blast and fire incident at Arki market in Solan district on January 12, a total of 20 human remains have been recovered so far. On Thursday, 10 of these remains were handed over to their families for cremation, which was carried out under the supervision of local authorities.
The victims included 10 laborers from Nepal and Bihar, among them a 10-year-old child. Families of the deceased decided to conduct a collective cremation for the remains recovered during the search operation. DNA samples were also collected from relatives who arrived from Nepal.
The search operation involved NDRF, SDRF, Home Guard, and Dog Squad teams meticulously sifting through debris and soil at Chougan ground. After four days of intensive work, a total of 20 human remains were recovered. The operation was officially called off at 6 PM on Thursday. The administration is now focusing on clearing Chougan ground and conducting a legal investigation.
The police have registered a case against the building owner and are investigating the storage of cylinders in the commercial complex. SDM Arki, Nishant Tomar, appreciated the cooperation of all departments and local residents during the operation.
