‘Samarth Panchayat’ Portal to Be Mandatory in Himachal Gram Panchayats from April 1
The Himachal Pradesh government has made the use of the ‘Samarth Panchayat’ portal mandatory to ensure transparency and digital management of gram panchayat revenues. According to a notification issued by the Department of Panchayati Raj, the system will be implemented in all gram panchayats across the state from April 1.
As per the notification, assessment of tax and non-tax revenue, registration of taxpayers, online demand generation, revenue utilization of panchayat assets, and digital collection of payments from citizens will now be carried out exclusively through the Samarth portal. The offline process has been completely discontinued.
The government stated that the Samarth Panchayat portal will enhance transparency, standardization, and efficiency in the functioning of gram panchayats, thereby strengthening their financial self-reliance. The portal has been developed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India.
