Youth Sold Mother’s Gold Earrings to Buy Chitta, Main Supplier Arrested
Himachal Pradesh police have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. After arresting three youths who had allegedly sold a mother’s gold earrings to purchase chitta from Chandigarh, police have now arrested the main supplier in the case.
Acting on the disclosures of the accused, police arrested the main supplier, Deepak, a resident of Daddumajra Sector-38, Chandigarh. Around 14 grams of chitta and the sold gold earrings were recovered from his possession.
According to police, on Tuesday night, three youths—Rajat Sharkot from Gahan village (Nankhri), Avinash Sood from Narkanda, and Nikhil from Bharada village (Theog)—were arrested in Kandaghat area of Solan district with 11 grams of chitta. During interrogation while on police remand, they revealed that the contraband had been procured from Chandigarh.
Further questioning revealed that Nikhil had sold his mother’s gold earrings to arrange money for buying the drugs. Following this lead, police conducted a raid in Chandigarh on Thursday and arrested Deepak, who was supplying chitta.
SP Solan Gaurav Singh said that searches were carried out at the accused’s locations, leading to the recovery of 14 grams of chitta. The accused had hidden the gold earrings inside his vehicle. Police are now investigating the extent of the drug network and identifying other individuals involved.
Three Youths Arrested with Heroin
In a separate incident, Talai police arrested three youths from Barsar area of Hamirpur district with 3.8 grams of heroin. The arrests were made during a routine patrol near Varsha Shalika Seu, where the youths were found sitting in a car. The accused have been identified as Vikas Kumar of Baroti, Rajat Kumar of Dhangota, and Ashish Kumar of Suder (Dakghara Dakhyoda). SP Sandeep Dhawal stated that investigations are underway and the anti-drug drive will continue.
