Himachal: Surya Construction Files HC Petition, BRO Workers Summoned Over Lack of Winter Facilities
Surya Construction Company, executing the NH-003 widening project in Mandi, has filed a petition in the Himachal Pradesh High Court over non-payment by Gawar Company. The company alleged that due to its absence during a public interest litigation, the court instructed Gawar not to release any payments. Surya Construction warned that non-payment could disrupt work and delay workers’ salaries.
The NH widening contract was awarded to Gawar Company, which subcontracted the work to Surya Construction. Both the central and state governments have stated that there are no issues in releasing payments to Surya. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 30.
HC Summons BRO DG Over Denial of Winter Facilities to Workers
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has taken a strong note of BRO’s Deepak Project failing to provide winter facilities to daily-wage workers. Justice Rakesh Kanthla said that if the necessary facilities are not provided by February 23, senior BRO officials must appear in court personally.
