Shimla: Declining Greenery and Snowfall; Municipal Corporation to Present First Climate Tool Budget, Kusumpti Tehsil and Ambulance Road in Preparation
Shimla city is rapidly turning into a concrete landscape, with greenery and snowfall decreasing year by year. In response to changing weather patterns, the Shimla Municipal Corporation is preparing to present its first Climate Tool Budget. The annual municipal budget will be presented in February and will include initiatives to increase greenery, enforce stricter building regulations, improve sanitation, and focus on climate protection.
The Municipal Corporation stated that the Climate Tool Budget will ensure that development projects are implemented in a manner that does not harm the environment. Priority will be given to schemes aimed at reducing carbon emissions, conserving water, increasing green cover, and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources. Proposals from various departments are being collected and will be finalized soon.
Ambulance Road Facility
In the Anadale ward, a 1.5 km long ambulance road will be constructed from Middle School to Upper Gwahai within two months. Councillor Urmila Kashyap stated that the work, which had been halted due to lack of FRA approval, has now resumed.
New Tehsil in Kusumpti
Plans are underway to create a new tehsil in Kusumpti. The district administration has prepared a proposal and sent it to the state government. According to the proposal, in addition to the existing patwari circles, four new patwari circles and two field kanungo circles will be created. The tehsil will cover 91,924 people, 17,032.29 hectares of land, and 86,983 khata numbers. The new tehsil is being established to address the growing population and increasing revenue-related matters in the Shimla rural area.
