KCCB Loan Scam: SHO of Sadar Police Station Present, Raid at Dharamshala Headquarters

KCCB Hotel Loan Scam: SHO Placed on Standby, Raid at Dharamshala Headquarters

In the high-profile hotel loan case linked to Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Limited (KCCB), SHO Gaurav Bhardwaj of Sadar Police Station, Una, has been placed on standby by the SP of Una. The SHO has been asked to provide clarification on key aspects of the investigation. Authorities are waiting to determine whether the issue involves misuse of power or negligence in the probe.

An FIR has been registered against the bank’s former Managing Director Vinod Kumar and eight other officials and employees.

A special team from Sadar Police Station conducted a raid on Friday at the KCCB headquarters in Dharamshala, seizing important documents and files related to the loan. The FIR was filed by Yudh Chand Bains, a resident of Bhura village, Mandi, who claimed that despite a 120 million INR hotel loan sanctioned in 2016, the full amount was not disbursed on time, causing significant losses to his project.

It is alleged that bank officials tampered with the valuation records of the mortgaged properties, and in 2021, the loan was wrongly classified as an NPA, despite RBI guidelines and the COVID-19 moratorium. The case has since reached the Himachal Pradesh High Court and the Debt Recovery Tribunal in Chandigarh.
