HP Cabinet Approves 25 Key Decisions: Orphan & Widow Cess, Asia’s Longest Zipline, and More
The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday, approved several major decisions across sectors including education, health, energy, and infrastructure.
Key decisions include:
- Establishment of a state-of-the-art cancer care center at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur.
- Formation of 11 new departments and creation of essential posts across categories.
- Amendment to the Social Security (Pension) Rules, 2010 to ensure timely pension payments to beneficiaries.
- Adoption of National Policy on Geothermal Energy for exploration and development in the state, with Una Directorate as the nodal agency.
- Approval to levy Orphan and Widow Cess on Petrol and High-Speed Diesel, ensuring adequate funds for welfare schemes.
- Construction of Asia’s longest 4.3 km zipline near Dharamshala, Kangra, estimated cost ₹7.41 crore.
- Changes in Senior Resident Doctor Policy, allocating 66.66% seats to service GDO/MO and 33.33% to direct candidates.
- Recruitment approvals for Revenue and Health Departments, including Assistant Commissioners, Tehsildars, Job Trainees, and Assistant Staff Nurses with updated age limits.
- Approval to construct 8 new blocks at AIIMS Bilaspur campus.
- SOPs approved for the recruitment of Crèche Workers and Crèche Helpers.
- Establishment of 4 new labs for nutritional profiling and food testing across Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, and Solan (Baddi) districts.
- Alliance Air allowed to operate 46-seater flights on Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Dharamshala routes.
- Construction of a new ice skating rink in Shimla.
- Approval of the Himachal Land Revenue Rules 2025, regulating appointments, duties, salaries, and penalties of revenue and village officers.
