Himachal’s Girls Enter Kabaddi Quarterfinals, Defeat Bihar 45-36

Himachal Enters U-19 National Kabaddi Quarterfinals; National Handball Championship to Begin in Ghumarwin

At the Student School in Nalagarh, Solan district, the Himachal Pradesh team defeated Bihar 45-36 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Under-19 National Kabaddi Championship. Along with Himachal, seven other teams—Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu—also advanced to the quarterfinals.

On the third day of pre-quarterfinal matches, Haryana defeated Rajasthan 48-32, Maharashtra beat Karnataka 39-22, Delhi won against Andhra Pradesh 49-24, Uttar Pradesh defeated Punjab 37-35, Madhya Pradesh overcame Uttarakhand 33-31, Chhattisgarh defeated West Bengal 49-21, and Tamil Nadu beat Kerala 43-14. In earlier league matches, Himachal defeated Punjab 51-37, Kerala routed NVS 68-22, Tamil Nadu beat Maharashtra 33-22, Delhi defeated Jharkhand 53-18, Andhra Pradesh won against Jammu & Kashmir 35-20, Uttar Pradesh beat Gujarat 34-20, Bihar defeated CBSE 51-25, Rajasthan overcame Vidya Bharati 68-26, and Chandigarh defeated Assam 35-28.

Notable attendees at the event included SDM Narendra Singh Ahluwalia, Tehsildar Husain Chand Chaudhary, Kabaddi coach Sanjeev Thakur, Rajpura Pradhan Devendra, Wrestling Association Vice-President Kuldeep Rana, and international Kabaddi star Ajay Thakur.

Meanwhile, the Under-19 Women’s National Handball Championship will begin in Ghumarwin on February 1. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate the event, which will feature around 800 female athletes from 40 teams across the country. The championship will conclude on February 5, with Education Minister Rohit Thakur presiding over the closing ceremony. A review meeting was held at the Development Officer’s office in Ghumarwin under Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani. Minister Dharmani emphasized that the championship will help promote the “Brand Himachal” and that the athletes, as national guests, will be provided with top-priority facilities.
