Major Fraud in Land Purchase for Flats in Una, Vigilance Probe Initiated on ₹28 Crore Deal
A major fraud has been uncovered in the name of land purchase for flat construction in the Haroli assembly constituency of Una district, Himachal Pradesh. It is alleged that HIMUDA, in collusion with the Revenue Department, purchased around 600 kanal of land with ravines and nullahs for ₹28 crore, providing undue benefit to the landowner.
Following a preliminary investigation, Vigilance has registered a case of fraud and forgery against the landowner. With government approval for a full investigation, HIMUDA officials and Revenue Department employees are also expected to face action.
Land Purchase Process Began in 2013
According to Vigilance Bureau, HIMUDA started the land acquisition process in 2013 for flat construction. While the process began under the Congress government, it was completed during the BJP government. Investigations revealed that the purchased land is neither level nor suitable for flat construction. Additionally, the land was bought at a price above the circle rate, causing undue benefit to the landowner and a loss to government revenue.
Preliminary Probe Confirms Allegations
After a complaint was filed, Vigilance conducted a preliminary probe and found the allegations to be true. Action is now being planned against HIMUDA and Revenue Department officials involved. Sources say the investigation spans from Una to the Shimla Secretariat, covering officials, politicians, and other influential individuals. Arrests are expected in the coming days.
A team led by DSP Firoz Khan of the Vigilance Bureau is conducting a detailed probe, and the report will soon be submitted to the government.
