Himachal Pradesh: 167 Drug Samples Fail Nationwide, 50 From Himachal
In Himachal Pradesh, 50 locally manufactured drugs and a total of 167 drug samples across the country have failed quality standards. Solan district recorded 37 failed samples, Sirmaur 11, and Una and Kangra one each. The failed medicines include treatments for bacterial infections, high blood pressure, ulcers, blood thinning, preventing clotting during injuries, and reducing stomach acid.
State laboratory tests found 93 samples failed nationwide, including 31 from Himachal. Meanwhile, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) reported 74 failed samples, with 19 from Himachal.
Several major pharmaceutical companies were affected, including Theon Pharma, Maya Biotech, G Laboratory, Crust Life Science, Martin & Brown, Allop Medi Science, and Hiller Lab. Failed drugs included medications for allergies, high blood pressure, infections, antibiotics, acidity, cough, blood clot prevention, and fever.
State Drug Controller Manish Kapoor stated that action will be taken under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, stocks will be recalled from the market, and notices will be issued to all the companies involved.
