Sirmaur Fire Tragedy: Six Killed, Including Three Children, During Maghi Festival

A devastating fire late at night in Talangna, Ghanduri Panchayat, Nauradhar, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, claimed the lives of six people. Among the victims were three children who were asleep inside their homes. Two daughters, visiting their parental home for the Maghi festival, could not have imagined this would be their last celebration with their family.

According to police, the houses of Vijay Singh, Bhim Singh, and Meen Singh were completely destroyed in the fire. The house of Indra Devi, wife of the late Yashwant Singh, also succumbed to the flames. The tragedy claimed the lives of Indra Devi’s two daughters, their three children, and one son-in-law. Another son-in-law, Lokendra (42), son of Jogendra Singh, was injured and is receiving treatment at CHC Nauradhar.

Lokendra told police that on Wednesday night around 11:00 PM, everyone had finished dinner and went to sleep. Around 3:00 AM, smoke started filling the room, followed by a loud explosion in the kitchen, which triggered the fire. Indra Devi’s cattle shed also caught fire, killing two cows and a calf.

  • Naresh Kumar (50) – son of Durga Ram, resident of Taproli village (son-in-law)
  • Tripta (44) – wife of Naresh Kumar, resident of Taproli, Nauradhar (daughter)
  • Kavita (36) – wife of Lokendra, resident of Kumra, Jiknipul Nerwa (daughter)
  • Kritika (13) – daughter of Lokendra, resident of Vizer, Devt Nerwa
  • Sarika (13) – daughter of Lokendra, resident of Vizer
  • Kartik (3) – son of Lokendra, resident of Vizer
