Heli-Hop Service to Start in Himachal from January 20; Passenger Weight Limited to 75 kg and Luggage to 5 kg
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is set to launch its Heli-Hop service from Shimla’s Sanjauli heliport to Reckong Peo in Kinnaur and Bhuntar in Kullu from January 20 under the “Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik” scheme. The service will be operated by Heritage Aviation and Pawan Hans Limited.
Each passenger will be allowed a maximum weight of 75 kg and 5 kg of luggage. Passengers must provide their accurate weight while booking tickets. Providing incorrect information may result in denial of boarding. Passengers exceeding 75 kg may only fly if the average weight of all passengers remains within the limit, with an additional charge of ₹100 per kg for excess weight.
Heritage Aviation will operate Airbus H-125 (AS350) helicopters carrying only five passengers along with the pilot. The fare from Shimla to Reckong Peo is ₹4,000 per seat, and from Shimla to Bhuntar is ₹3,500 per seat.
Heritage Aviation will operate daily flights, while Pawan Hans Limited will provide services three days a week on Chandigarh–Shimla–Manali and Shimla–Reckong Peo routes. Devesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Civil Aviation, emphasized that safety is the top priority in hill helicopter operations, which is why strict rules regarding passenger weight and luggage have been enforced.
