Hamirpur: 23-Year-Old Woman Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances, FIR Filed Against Husband and In-Laws
In Bhoranj, Hamirpur, 23-year-old Shivani (Ritu) died under suspicious circumstances. Shivani had married Veerendra from Chamboh just a year ago. When her health deteriorated, her family took her to Bhoranj Hospital, from where she was referred to Hamirpur Medical College. She was declared dead there. Initial reports suggest that her death may have been caused by the consumption of a toxic substance.
Shivani’s family alleges that she was being harassed mentally and physically by her in-laws. They demanded proper action from the police.
The police have registered a case against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law for abetment of suicide. Shivani’s family protested outside the mortuary, refusing to take the body until the in-laws were arrested, causing a temporary blockage on the Shimla-Mataur NH 103, which was later cleared by the police.
The complainant, Surendra Kumar, stated that Shivani was under severe stress due to mental harassment from her in-laws regarding education and household expenses, as well as threats from her husband over phone.
SP Balveer Singh confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and legal action is being taken against the accused.
