9,629 Applications Received for 5,623 Teacher Posts in Himachal Government Schools, 7,448 Candidates Pay Fee
The recruitment process for teachers to implement the CBSE curriculum in government schools of Himachal Pradesh is currently underway. The School Education Board has so far received only 9,629 applications for 5,623 teacher posts across various categories in 145 government schools of the state. The number is considered relatively low compared to the total pool of eligible teachers in the state.
Earlier, the School Education Board had invited applications from February 11 to February 24 for the screening test scheduled on March 22. However, due to the low response from teachers, the last date for submitting applications was extended to March 5.
Out of the 9,629 applications received by March 3, only 7,448 candidates have paid the application fee, while 2,181 applications remain incomplete due to non-payment of the fee.
Some subjects have received extremely low responses. For 134 Lecturer Geography posts, only 60 applications were fully completed, while 13 candidates did not pay the fee. For 134 Lecturer Sociology posts, only 21 applications were received, with four still pending fee payment. Similarly, for 134 Lecturer Psychology posts, only seven applications were received, and four of them have not yet paid the fee.
According to Dr. Major Vishal Sharma, Secretary of the School Education Board, the deadline for submitting applications was extended to March 5 due to the low number of applications for the screening test. He added that around 9,500 applications have been received so far and the process is still ongoing.

Applications include 150 for Lecturer Biology, 161 for Chemistry, 161 for Physics, 160 for Mathematics, 288 for Commerce, 167 for Economics, 384 for English, 182 for Political Science, 182 for History, 182 for Hindi, 134 for Geography, 134 for Sociology, 134 for Sanskrit, 134 for Music, 134 for IP, 134 for Physical Education, 134 for Psychology, 140 for DPE, 480 for TGT Arts, 244 for TGT Medical, 244 for TGT Non-Medical, 221 for Shastri, 239 for Language Teacher, 179 for Drawing Master, 147 for Physical Education Teacher, and 640 for JBT posts.
