Anurag Sharma to Be Congress’ Rajya Sabha Candidate from Kangra

The Congress party has announced Anurag Sharma, president of Kangra District Congress, as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh. The party high command released a list of six candidates across the country, with Sharma representing Himachal Pradesh.

Anurag Sharma filed his nomination today in the state assembly in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Before the nomination, Chief Minister Sukhu held a meeting of the Congress legislative party in the assembly complex.

Anurag Sharma, the current president of Kangra District Congress, is an active party member and has served in various organizational roles. He is a close associate of Chief Minister Sukhu. Additionally, he is the president of the Bir Billing Paragliding Association, which organizes international-level paragliding championships.

Sharma’s nomination has energized party workers in the Kangra region. The current Rajya Sabha MP, Indu Goswami, will complete her term on April 9, necessitating the election of the new member beforehand.

The Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, represents the states. The selection of a Congress candidate for this seat from Himachal Pradesh reflects the party’s organizational strength and leadership in the state.
