AI Summit Protest: Siddharth Arrested from Rohru Had Arranged T-Shirts Before the Demonstration, Know the Full Story

AI Impact Summit Protest: Arrested Youth Congress Leader from Rohru Arranged T-Shirts; Three Accused Taken to Delhi

A major revelation has emerged in connection with the T-shirt protest during the Indian AI Impact Summit. The T-shirts used in the demonstration were arranged by Siddharth, a Youth Congress leader arrested from Rohru in Shimla district. The other two accused, Arbaaz Ahmed Khan and Saurabh, were directly involved in the on-stage protest.

After a 24-hour high-voltage standoff between the Delhi Police and the Himachal Pradesh Police at the state border, all three accused leaders of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) were taken to Delhi on Thursday morning. None of them are residents of Himachal Pradesh. They were reportedly hiding in a hotel in Chirgaon, Shimla district, to evade arrest.

According to senior Delhi Police officials, Saurabh and Arbaaz were part of the group that removed their T-shirts during the protest at the summit. After the incident, they managed to escape from Delhi and fled to Himachal Pradesh. The accused had earlier attended a meeting at the Youth Congress office in Delhi and were admins of a WhatsApp group created to coordinate the protest.

The investigation has been transferred from the New Delhi district police to the Crime Branch’s Interstate Cell. The Special Cell and other units have also been involved in the probe. The accused were presented before Patiala Court and later handed over to the Crime Branch after medical examination.

Questions Raised Over Intelligence Failure

The state government has expressed concern over an apparent intelligence lapse. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has sought a detailed report on the matter. A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta with DGP Ashok Tiwari and senior officials reviewed the coordination between Delhi and Himachal police.

Concerns were raised over how Delhi and Haryana Police operated in the state for two days and reached Rohru without the state intelligence units being alerted. However, Shimla Police received appreciation for setting up a checkpoint at Shoghi and responding promptly to the situation.
