Phag and Holi Festivals in Himachal: Traditional Celebrations in Janglikh and Sangla

Janglikh Phag Fair:
The unique Phag Fair began on Sunday in the remote village of Janglikh in Rohru sub-division. On the first day, devotees greeted the deity at the Jakh temple by throwing snowballs. A large number of people visited Janglikh to witness the event. The fair, marking the arrival of spring, will continue for two days.

Villagers from Pechayani village participated in traditional attire, following the ritual of throwing snowballs at the temple. The snowball is considered auspicious when it passes through a special hole in the temple wall. After the ritual, villagers danced to the beats of traditional musical instruments.

Sangla District-Level Holi Festival:
The district-level Holi festival also began on Sunday in Sangla Valley, Kinnaur. Celebrated for three days, devotees will throw colors at the temple of the local deity, Shri Beringnath. Tourists from across India and abroad, along with locals, are participating in the festivities.

The festival features cultural performances, traditional music, and vibrant celebrations. LED screens are broadcasting the events live. Organizers have made full arrangements for crowd management and safety.
