Hamirpur: 15.52 Grams of Meth Seized from Taxi Passenger in Swahal; Accused Sent to Police Remand
In Swahal, under Sadar police station, Hamirpur police seized 15.52 grams of meth from a taxi passenger identified as Shashikant, a resident of Hamirpur. The accused was presented in Hamirpur Court, which granted police remand until March 7.
Acting on a secret tip-off, police set up a checkpoint near Swahal at around 4 AM on Wednesday. A taxi was stopped on suspicion, and the passenger was searched. During the search, the meth consignment was recovered from the accused.
SP Balveer Singh stated that the accused had brought the meth consignment from Hoshiarpur to Bhota and then hired a taxi to travel to his home. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
