HPV Vaccination Drive Launched at IGMC Shimla
The state-level HPV vaccination campaign was launched on Saturday by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the Atal Auditorium of Indira Gandhi Medical College. Health and Family Welfare Minister Colonel Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, Health Secretary M. Sudha, and MLA Harish Janartha were also present.
National Rollout Flagged Off from Ajmer
The nationwide campaign aims to protect young girls from cervical cancer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the national drive from Ajmer.
Target to Vaccinate 64,000 Girls in 90 Days
Under the campaign, girls aged 13 to 14 years will receive the HPV vaccine. The state has set a target to vaccinate 64,000 girls within 90 days. The Chief Minister also stated that Rs 3,000 crore is being spent on the health sector and that the government is moving ahead to introduce robotic surgery in five medical colleges across the state.
