Israel–Iran War: Over 45,000 Himachal Residents Stranded in Gulf; Families Worried, Demand Safe Return by Govt

Rising US–Israel–Iran Tensions Trigger Anxiety Among Families of Himachalis in Gulf Countries

Escalating tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran have sparked concern among families of Indian nationals living in Gulf countries. More than 45,000 people from Himachal Pradesh are employed in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. The possibility of these nations being drawn into the conflict has heightened anxiety among thousands of families back home.

Taking note of the seriousness of the situation, the Himachal Pradesh government has directed officials to remain in close contact with Himachali workers residing in Gulf nations and their families. Labour and Employment Minister Harshvardhan Singh Chauhan stated that the department has been put on alert. If requests for evacuation arise, the state government will take up the matter with the central government to ensure safe return. Families and social organizations have also urged coordination with the Centre to arrange special evacuation flights if required.

Missile Strikes in Bahrain Create Panic

Kapil Negi from Sirmaur, currently working in Bahrain, shared on social media that missiles struck a nearby US Army base close to his workplace. While his residential area remains unaffected, fear prevails.

Roshan Lal Sharma from Hamirpur said his son Pankaj and daughter-in-law Ruchi live in Doha, Qatar, where authorities have issued advisories asking residents to stay indoors due to rising tensions.

Sujata Sharma from Baijnath (Kangra) said her sister Anupam lives in Dubai with her family. Reports of attacks near Dubai Airport and Burj Khalifa have created panic, though Anupam confirmed she is currently safe.

Satish Kumar from Una, a civil engineer in Dubai, reported hearing emergency sirens late at night followed by a loud explosion. His family back home remains deeply worried about his safety.

Israeli Nationals Stranded in Himachal

Due to flight cancellations from Delhi to Gulf destinations, some Israeli nationals are unable to return home from Himachal Pradesh. An Israeli woman who arrived at Gaggal Airport in Kangra had to stay back due to uncertainty over international flights. Airport authorities confirmed that regular domestic flights are operating on schedule and no special advisory has been issued so far.
