Heat Arrives in Himachal: Day Temperature Crosses 30°C in Seven Districts, Know When the Weather Will Change

Heat Intensifies in Himachal: Temperature Crosses 30°C in Seven Districts; Rain and Snow Likely from March 9–11

The impact of rising temperatures has started to be felt across Himachal Pradesh. On Thursday, the maximum temperature crossed 30°C in seven districts—Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, and Una. In addition, Shimla, Kangra, and Solan recorded their highest temperatures for the month of March in the last three years.

The changing weather pattern is being felt not only in the plains but also in the hill regions, where people have started experiencing warmer conditions. The chill during the morning and evening hours has also begun to decline.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the activation of a western disturbance, rainfall and snowfall are likely in eight mid and high hill districts of the state between March 9 and 11. However, the weather is expected to remain clear in the plains until March 10, with possible changes in four plain districts on March 11.

Weather experts say that the reduced activity of western disturbances in recent days has kept the weather mostly clear across the state, resulting in a steady rise in daytime temperatures. Strong sunshine in lower and mid-hill districts has already started giving people a feeling of summer at the beginning of March.

Even in Shimla and other mid and high hill regions, the cold during morning and evening hours has started decreasing. A rise in minimum temperatures has also been recorded in recent days, weakening the winter chill in the mountainous areas.

Maximum Temperatures in Various Areas (°C)

Neri 34.5, Mandi 33.6, Sundernagar 33.3, Kangra 33.0, Una 32.2, Barthin 32.0, Bhuntar 31.8, Solan 31.5, Chamba 29.9, Dharamshala 29.0, Nahan 27.8, Shimla 25.2, Manali 25.2, Kalpa 24.0, and Keylong recorded 14.8°C.
