Himachal Pradesh Police Orders Statewide POSH Act Compliance Audit Within 15 Days
The Himachal Pradesh Police have directed a statewide compliance audit under the POSH Act (Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal Act, 2013) to ensure safe, respectful, and harassment-free workplaces for women across all police units and offices.
The DGP stated that this 15-day audit will review whether Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) are properly constituted, functioning effectively, and complying with all mandatory procedures under the Act. The audit will also assess complaint record maintenance, timely investigation actions, awareness programs for staff, and legal reporting requirements.
SPs, COs, and senior police officers have been instructed to personally monitor the process and submit detailed compliance reports to the Police Headquarters within the stipulated time. Any deficiencies in ICC formation or functioning will be corrected immediately, and strict departmental action will be taken against non-compliance or failure to implement corrective measures.
The DGP emphasized that the Himachal Pradesh Police has a zero-tolerance policy towards workplace harassment. The audit aims not only to ensure procedural compliance but also to strengthen institutional safeguards, promote gender sensitivity, and create a professional environment based on respect and accountability.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the rights, safety, and dignity of women employees, ensuring that all workplaces under their jurisdiction maintain the highest legal and ethical standards.
