Shimla: Female Administrative Officer Under Scrutiny for Promoting Private Company Products, Department Orders Inquiry
A senior female administrative officer, Oshin Sharma, posted in the capital city of Shimla, is under the spotlight for promoting products of a private company. Sharma shared multiple videos and photos on her social media handles praising these products, which have now gone viral and raised questions among the public.
The matter has reached the concerned department and the state government. Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta has directed the department to investigate the issue. Sharma holds a senior administrative position in the city and has millions of followers on her social media accounts.
According to Civil Services Conduct Rule 15 (1), no government employee can engage in any private business or job. Experts say promoting private company products on social media may violate this rule. Sharma has, however, refused to comment on the matter so far.
