Holi and Holika Dahan in Himachal, Lunar Eclipse Tomorrow

Holi will be celebrated in Himachal Pradesh on March 4 this year. Holika Dahan will take place on March 2, with the auspicious timing from 6:22 PM to 8:53 PM. The ritual at Radha-Krishna Temple in Ganj Bazaar will begin at 7:00 PM, with symbolic effigies of Holika and Prahlad. After the ritual, Prahlad’s effigy will be removed and Holika will be burned.

The festival will be celebrated with enthusiasm at the Radha-Krishna Temple under the Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha. Key attendees include Sabha President Ajay Sood, Secretary Dharm Paul Puri, and other members. Free books will also be distributed to students of the SD School by the Sabha management.

Lunar Eclipse Tomorrow; 9-Hour Sootak Period

The first lunar eclipse of the year will occur on March 3, starting at 3:20 PM and ending at 6:46 PM. The Sootak period begins 9 hours prior, at 6:20 AM. All auspicious activities are prohibited during this period.

The eclipse will occur in Leo and Purva Phalguni Nakshatra and will be visible across India. According to Pandit Umesh Nautiyal of Radha-Krishna Temple, during Sootak, temple doors remain closed, and activities like worship, havan, and starting new tasks are restricted. Placing holy grass (Kusha) and Tulsi in water, milk, ghee, oil, pickles, and honey at home is considered auspicious.
