Himachal: Contract TGTs to Receive Revised Salary and Higher Pay Scale Benefits Following High Court Orders
Shimla: The Education Directorate in Himachal Pradesh has begun action on salary and higher pay scale matters for teachers appointed on a contract basis as per High Court directives. The directorate has instructed that certain petitioning teachers be granted revised salary benefits, and other related cases be decided within six weeks.
According to sources, some contract-based TGT teachers filed petitions in the High Court requesting revised salary from their initial date of appointment. The petitioners argued that they should receive benefits under the Himachal Pradesh Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2022. Records show that these teachers were appointed on a contract basis in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, and later regularized in different years.
The teachers requested that 60% of the minimum pay of ₹38,100 be granted from the start of their contract period. The Education Directorate clarified that the revised pay rules of 2022 apply to regular employees, while for contract employees, the notification dated January 12, 2022, sets the pay at 60% of the minimum regular pay.
The order states that after the High Court petitions are settled and government approval is obtained, the petitioning teachers will receive the revised salary benefits. However, this will be subject to the final decision in the pending LPA in the High Court.
Additionally, the directorate has begun reviewing cases related to granting higher pay scale after completing two years of regular service, based on the High Court ruling in Mohit Sharma vs. State Government. Officials stated that eligible employees will receive benefits in accordance with High Court directives and Finance Department notifications.
