Himachal: High Court Says State Cadre Employees Must Be Ready to Serve Anywhere in the State
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has clarified that employees appointed to state cadre positions must be prepared to serve anywhere across the state. The court emphasized that posting in tribal areas is not a punishment, as these areas also have residents who require government services.
Justice Ajay Mohan Goyal noted that if courts start canceling postings in tribal areas, the government will have no employees left to serve there. In this case, a petitioner serving as Superintendent Grade-2 argued that his transfer to Mubarkpur in June 2025 was premature, as he had not completed his normal tenure there. The court rejected this argument, reiterating that postings in tribal areas are not punitive and employees must be ready to serve in these regions.
