Himachal: Holi 2026 – Holika Dahan on 2nd March, Colorful Holi on 4th March
In Himachal Pradesh, Holi will be celebrated with great enthusiasm on 4th March 2026 (Wednesday). This year, Holika Dahan, also called Chhoti Holi, is scheduled for 2nd March. Pandit Umesh Nautiyal of Radha Krishna Temple, Shimla, stated that according to Dharm Sindhu, Holika Dahan should never be done during Bhadra period. On 2nd March, Pradosh Kaal with Purnima is occurring, making 6:22 PM to 8:53 PM an auspicious time for Holika Dahan. Additionally, it can also be performed during Bhadra Poochh Kaal from 12:50 AM to 2:00 AM on 3rd March or early morning from 5:32 AM before sunrise.
The main Holi (Dhulandi) festival will be celebrated on 4th March. Shimla’s Lower Bazaar and surrounding markets are bustling with Holi shopping. Water guns (pichkaris) with bat-ball, Barbie doll, and cartoon prints are particularly popular among children.
Holi product prices in markets:
- Pichkaris: ₹20 to ₹1,500
- Water Tanks: ₹200 to ₹800
- Herbal Colors: ₹20 to ₹50
The sale of colors and water guns has picked up pace, giving a boost to local businesses ahead of the festival.
