Teachers’ Union Meets CM and Education Minister, Submits Five-Point Memorandum; Receives Assurance from Education Department

Teachers’ Unions Submit Five-Point Memorandum to Himachal CM and Education Minister, Receive Assurance on CBSE Issues

On Wednesday, a joint delegation of the Joint Teachers Federation of Himachal Pradesh met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur. During the meeting, the delegation submitted a five-point memorandum highlighting key issues related to CBSE schools.

The delegation was led by Ajay Negi, President of the Himachal Pradesh School Spokespersons Association, and included senior representatives from the Principals’ Association, Headmasters’ Association, HGTU, All TGT Federation, PTF, C&V Teachers’ Union, and the Science Teachers’ Association.

Chief Press Secretary Jayaram Sharma stated that the delegation presented the following key demands to the Education Minister:

  • No separate CBSE cadre should be created for teachers, to avoid affecting service structure and seniority.
  • The January 19 notification, Column 5.6.2, should be amended to provide clear and unambiguous guidelines.
  • CHT positions in primary schools should be retained, and administrative control of primary sections should remain with CHTs.
  • Deputy Headmaster posts should be created in state schools and filled based on joint seniority.
  • Senior secondary boys’ and girls’ schools should not be merged; instead, they should operate as co-educational institutions with one affiliated to CBSE and the other to the Himachal Pradesh Board, giving students a choice of board.

The Chief Minister and Education Minister assured the delegation that all CBSE-related teacher issues would be addressed seriously. Necessary amendments to the January 19 notification will be made, and co-education arrangements will be implemented in schools with high student enrollment.
