Mischievous Elements Throw Stones at Jan Shatabdi Train, Windows Shattered

Stone Pelting at Jan Shatabdi Express Near Nangal Railway Station, Passengers Frightened

On Tuesday night, miscreants pelted stones at a coach of the Jan Shatabdi Express near Nangal Railway Station. The windows of the coach were broken, creating panic among the passengers. A video of the incident is rapidly going viral on social media, in which passengers can be heard saying that the stone-pelting occurred near Nangal and that the railway authorities need to strengthen security.

Inspector Giriraj Prasad Meena, in charge of RPF Nangal, stated that no formal complaint has been received regarding this incident, nor are they aware of it. He added that the railway police take strict action in such cases, and if the incident did occur, they will investigate and take appropriate measures.

There has been a recent surge in stone-pelting incidents on trains, raising serious concerns about passenger safety. The Tuesday night incident clearly showed broken windows and frightened passengers.

Passengers Narendra Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Vandana Kumari, and Ramesh Chand said that without increased surveillance and strict action on railway sections, more serious incidents could occur in the future. Previously, stone-pelting incidents have also been reported on the Delhi-Una Jan Shatabdi Express and the Vande Bharat Express in the district.

Last July, the Jan Shatabdi Express (12057) from Una to Delhi was targeted, with passengers narrowly escaping injury. At the time of that incident, the train was approximately 100-200 meters from Rupnagar Railway Station. Additionally, in October 2024, the Vande Bharat train from Amb-Andoura, Himachal Pradesh, to New Delhi was also attacked near the Basal area in Una, damaging windows of two coaches. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in this recent incident.
