Solan: Police File Case Against Unknown Officials Over Research Officer Prem Prakash Bhagnal’s Suicide
The police have launched an investigation into the suicide of Prem Prakash Bhagnal, a resident of Kodhab Bagna in the Habban area, who was posted as a Research Officer at the Solan District Statistics Office. On Thursday, following a statement from his wife Preeti, a case was registered against unknown officials and staff for abetting suicide.
SP N.S. Negi stated that the officer’s suicide note did not mention any names, which is why the case has been registered against unknown individuals. Those identified during the investigation will be named in the FIR.
Preeti, the wife of Prem Prakash Bhagnal, told police that her husband was harassed by departmental officials, which forced him to take the extreme step of suicide. She has demanded a fair and impartial investigation. The suicide note also mentioned the difficulties he faced at his workplace and headquarters, as well as issues related to his transfer from Chamba and regularization.
Based on her statement, the police have registered a case under sections related to abetment of suicide and started a formal investigation. Preeti has demanded strict action, emphasizing that those responsible for forcing her husband to take his life should not be spared.
