Dharamshala: Police Remand of Chinese National Lau Wennian Extended by Two Days

In Dharamshala, the town of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Chinese national Lau Wennian, who was staying without a valid visa, was presented in court again on Thursday. The court extended his police remand by two days. Earlier, he had been sent on a three-day remand. Lau Wennian was arrested on February 2 in the McLeodganj area for staying without a valid visa. On Thursday, the police also questioned the owner of the building where he was staying.

The police and other central investigation agencies are conducting in-depth questioning of the accused. Analysis of the seized mobile phone revealed that the accused did not make any direct voice calls to China and was only in contact with people there via internet calls. Data from his laptop and other electronic devices is also being thoroughly examined.

SP Ashok Ratn stated that the investigation is being conducted with utmost seriousness, and the accused’s police remand has been extended by two days.
