After an incident of hooliganism from a moving car on the Mandi–Sundernagar four-lane came to light, Sundernagar Police took swift action and issued a challan of ₹3,500 against the concerned vehicle. The action was taken on the basis of a video that went viral on social media, which the police described as a strong message regarding road safety.
According to information, some young women travelling in a tourist car bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number were seen coming out of the moving vehicle, creating noise and indulging in reckless behaviour. This not only put their own lives at risk but also posed a serious threat to other road users.
The video of the incident was recorded by a passerby and forwarded to Sundernagar Police. Taking cognizance of the footage, the police immediately initiated action and intercepted the vehicle at the Pung Naka. Upon confirmation of traffic rule violations, a challan of ₹3,500 was issued against the driver. The passengers were later let off with a strict warning not to repeat such acts in the future.
DSP Sundernagar Bharat Bhushan stated that violation of traffic rules would not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict action against offenders would continue. While welcoming tourists to Himachal Pradesh, he appealed to them to maintain discipline on roads and follow all safety norms. He also urged the general public to promptly inform the police or share videos if they notice any traffic violations or threats to road safety, so that timely action can be ensured.
