Himachal: BJP Legislative Party Submits Memorandum to Governor Raising Issues of Pending MLA Funds and Development Priorities
The BJP legislative party, led by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, submitted a detailed memorandum to Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, raising concerns against the state Congress government. The memorandum highlighted issues related to MLA Local Area Development Funds, discretionary funds, and pending development priorities of opposition MLAs.
The memorandum stated that the state government has not released MLA Local Area Development Funds since October 2025, making it difficult for legislators to fulfill development promises in their constituencies. The BJP said that these funds were crucial for reconstruction and development, especially after the recent natural disasters, but the government released only half of the budgeted amount and withheld the rest.
It also highlighted that discretionary funds for opposition MLAs were not being released on time, affecting immediate assistance to the poor, sick, and disaster-affected citizens, thereby impacting the credibility of public representatives.
Jairam Thakur said that over the past three years, development priorities submitted by opposition MLAs have neither been processed into DPRs nor sent to NABARD for approval. He urged the Governor to direct the government to immediately release the MLA Local Area Development Funds and discretionary funds and ensure DPRs of opposition MLAs’ priorities are forwarded to NABARD to achieve balanced development across all regions.
Several BJP legislators were present during the submission, including Vipin Parmar, Satpal Satti, Vikram Thakur, Randhir Sharma, D.S. Thakur, Rakesh Chauhan, Pawan Kajal, Sukhram Chaudhary, Dilip Thakur, Inder Singh Gandhi, Dr. Janak Raj, Deep Raj Kapoor, Lokendra Kumar, Prakash Rana, Reena Kashyap, Trilok Jamwal, Indra Datt Lakhanpal, Surendra Shauri, Purn Chand, Jeet Ram Katwal, Hans Raj, and Balbir Verma.
