Himachal News: CM Sukhu Announces Recruitment of 800 More Police Constables in Two Months; Discussing Uniform Allowance Hike

Good News for Himachal Youth: 800 More Police Constables to be Recruited in Two Months

Himachal Pradesh government has announced that 800 more police constables will be recruited in the next two months through the State Selection Commission. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu made the announcement at the Employment Resolution Fair held at Police Training College, Daroh, where he also handed over appointment letters to 1,253 newly appointed constables.

The CM stated that practices like paper leaks, prevalent during the BJP tenure, have been immediately stopped under his government, and now youths are getting government jobs based on merit. He directed the Police Director General to procure high-quality uniforms from reputed companies and said the government is seriously considering an increase in the uniform allowance for constables.

Sukhu further added that ex-servicemen will now be promoted to honorary head constables after 10 years of service and honorary assistant sub-inspectors after 15 years. He mentioned that the B-1 exam was decided for promotion from constable to head constable, although it currently faces interim suspension in the High Court.

On this occasion, the CM administered an anti-drug pledge and observed demonstrations of various safety techniques by the police. He emphasized that the government is taking strict action against drug mafias, including the dismissal of 12 police personnel involved in the trade.

Focus on Drug Quality

During a health department review meeting in Shimla, CM Sukhu said that the sampling and quality testing of medicines provided to government health institutions will be strengthened. Dedicated cells will be set up in every medical college, starting with IGMC Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.

Officials have been instructed to ensure that patients receive high-quality medicines, prepare a new essential drug list, and procure medicines directly from manufacturing companies. The provisions of Schedule-M under India’s Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945, will also be strictly enforced.

Protecting Himachal’s Interests

In Una, the CM described the Union Budget and the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission as a major setback for Himachal Pradesh’s interests. He warned that the proposed budget provisions could result in a loss of around ₹10,000 crore annually for the state, reaching ₹50,000 crore over the next five years.

CM Sukhu appealed to BJP leaders to rise above politics and unite for the state’s rights before the Centre. He offered that if BJP leaders wish, they can join him in Delhi to represent Himachal Pradesh’s interests.
