Cold Wave in Himachal Pradesh, Avalanche Warning Issued for Kullu-Lahaul
After recent rain and snowfall, Himachal Pradesh is experiencing a significant drop in temperature. On Wednesday night, temperatures in Kukumseri (Lahaul-Spiti) fell to minus 14.9°C and in Tabo to minus 11°C. Minimum temperatures across the state have dropped by 3-4°C.
An avalanche warning has been issued for Kullu and Lahaul on Friday. Authorities have advised tourists to avoid sensitive areas. In higher altitude regions, fog is expected near reservoirs during mornings and evenings, while other areas will see clear weather.
According to the Shimla Meteorological Center, the western disturbance is likely to be active on February 10 and 11, bringing rain and snowfall to most parts of the state. On February 6 and 9, light rain-snow is expected over the high peaks of Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Chamba districts.
On Thursday, most regions including the state capital Shimla experienced clear weather with sunshine. In Una, the maximum temperature was recorded at 25°C. Conditions in Kullu have improved, and Solang Nala has been reopened for tourists. BRO has restored Shinkula Pass.
