BJP MLAs to Skip All-Party Meeting on February 8
BJP MLAs will not participate in the all-party meeting scheduled by the government on Sunday, February 8. MLA Rakesh Jamwal stated that the decision was taken due to prior commitments. Several MLAs returned to their constituencies after Friday’s meetings, while some will leave on Saturday.
Jamwal added that Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has suggested that if the government wishes to hold the meeting, a separate date should be set and all BJP MLAs should be informed in advance. He clarified that there is no plan to boycott the meeting.
Additionally, the MLA blamed the state Congress government for the suspension of the Revenue Development Grant (RDG). He said the Chief Minister failed to effectively present the state’s case before the Finance Commission, and due to financial mismanagement, the grant has been stopped. This grant has been halted for 17 states, with the Congress-ruled Karnataka opposing it.
Jamwal further alleged that financial discipline in the state is still lacking. After the RDG was stopped, the Chief Minister appointed five chairpersons, but the priorities of BJP MLAs were ignored. The delay in fund release has affected not only BJP but also Congress MLAs.
